Karimnagar: A postgraduate medical student Aarti Sahu (21), who allegedly attempted to die by suicide on January, died while undergoing treatment in a private hospital here late on Saturday.

Though the exact reason for her resorting to the extreme step was not known, her parents have raised doubts over the death of their daughter.

A native of Abids, Hyderabad, Aarti was a PG second year student in a private medical college here. She allegedly consumed pesticides on January 30. As she started vomiting, her roommate took her to the college hospital for treatment. She returned to the hostel in the night after getting treatment. She was admitted to the hospital as she began vomiting again the next day in the morning.

Knowing about the incident, her parents shifted her to a private hospital in Karimnagar town where she breathed her last while undergoing treatment on Saturday.

In a complaint, her father Rajendra Sahu suspected the role of Dr Ashish, who reportedly slapped Aarti two months ago. Ashish, who allegedly used to behave rudely with Aarti, had expressed anger at her for not visiting his home along with other students on January 29.

Sahu wanted the police to take action against Ashish after conducting an inquiry.

Based on his complaint, police have registered a case and are investigating.
