Sangareddy: Telangana Police have joined hands with the Indian Institute of Technology-Hyderabad (IIT-H) to make the NH-65 accident-free.

Additional Director General of Police ( Raod Safety) Sandeep Sandilya, Superintendent of Police Sangareddy M Ramana Kumar, Regional Officer Road Safety and Highways SK Kushwaha, Roads and Buildings (National Highways) Superintending Engineer Srinivas, Prof Digvijaya Sampatrao Pawar, IIT-H faculty member at Department of Civil Engineering, and others discussed the prime causes behind the accidents at a meeting at IIT-H Campus in Kandi on Tuesday.

Going through the number of accidents reported on the NH-65 stretch in Sangareddy district, the police, highway officials and IIT-H faculty members noted down causes for the accidents. They also identified the black spots on the basis of road accidents. Since the IIT-H faculty have come up with some technology interventions to control the accident rate at the black spots, they also discussed the steps to be taken to prevent frequent accidents at these places.

They also discussed the places where foot over bridges and underpasses needed to be built on NH-65 to check the accident rate. With driving in wrong directions being one of the main causes for accidents on the busy Mumbai-Hyderabad highway, police officials discussed the possibility of controlling controlling this trend. They also identified that location signboards needed to be placed. Since controlling speed of vehicles was important to reduce the accidents rate, they discussed this issue too.

DSPs (Special Branch) Srinivas Naidu, DSP (Patancheru) Bheem Reddy, DSP (Sangareddy) A Balaji, Madhapur ACP (Traffic) A Chandrashekar, and others attended the meeting.
