Telangana Police, NGOs unite to help Covid-hit

Hyderabad: Telangana police with the support of voluntary organisations on Thursday launched a free food (lunch) service for Covid patients who are in isolation, at their doorstep.

The needy people can order through a WhatsApp message to the number +91 7799616163, provide their name, contact number, location and isolated Covid positive patients’ details. This service is expected to cater to the needs of over 1,000 to 2,000 Covid-hit people every day.


Requests should be placed every day before 6 am and any request past this time will be considered as the next day’s order. Maximum number of people for whom one can order food is five and the maximum days one can order is also five from a registered mobile number.

‘Seva Ahaar’ soon

Within a week from now, the free food service will be more systematic with the launch ‘Seva Ahaar’, an app for both android and IOS devices for this purpose and people can order through this mobile application.

The free food service was launched to meet the requirements of senior citizens and children in isolation and priority would be given to them only.

The lunch would be tested and nutritious. The service is being rendered by major partners like Satya Sai Seva Organisation, Leadlife Foundation and Hope Organization.

Delivery will be done through Big Basket and Swiggy executives on field as well as limited volunteers from NGO partners.

The service is being offered under the guidance of Swati Lakra, Additional Director-General of Police, Women Safety Wing (WSW), and B Sumati, DIG, CID, WSW.
