Hyderabad: Amid mounting criticism over the Congress high command cold-shouldering Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy came to the rescue of the Chief Minister, claiming that he maintains a cordial relationship with Congress MP Rahul Gandhi.
“Revanth Reddy has access to meet personally or speak over the phone with Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, even at midnight,” Ponguleti said in an informal chat with media persons here on Friday.
Reports about the Chief Minister failing to meet Rahul Gandhi were false propaganda by opposition parties. At times, due to various reasons, including hectic schedules, leaders cannot meet, and that cannot be blown out of proportion, he said, stressing that it was completely the Congress party’s internal matter.
“Let there be no confusion over the high command’s trust in Revanth Reddy. He will continue to be the Chief Minister for the next three years,” Ponguleti asserted.
Regarding the Enforcement Directorate raids in September last year, the Minister claimed that the raids were conducted at his daughter’s residence, not at his own.
On the Justice P.C. Ghose Commission’s notices to BRS Chief K. Chandrashekhar Rao, the Minister said there was no political vendetta behind the move. The state government had given a free hand to the Commission to probe the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme, he said.
“Based on the Commission’s reports, stern action will be initiated against all the accused, including L&T Company,” Ponguleti added.
