Hyderabad: BRS deputy floor leader T Harish Rao on Thursday termed the Congress government’s rule in Telangana a greater crisis than the Covid-19 pandemic and El Niño. He condemned Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for shifting the blame for the power crisis onto officials to cover up his government’s failures.
Reacting to the Chief Minister’s warning that senior officials would be suspended over power supply disruptions, Harish Rao said the electricity crisis was the result of the Congress government’s failure to maintain adequate coal stocks and regularly review the functioning of the power sector in the State.
He accused Revanth Reddy of ignoring warnings about El Niño issued by the Meteorological Department and scientists over nine months and waking up only after the situation had deteriorated. “Threatening officials with suspension after failing to prepare in advance amounts to shifting responsibility,” he alleged.
Questioning the Chief Minister’s description of El Niño as a Covid-like disaster, Harish Rao said the Congress government’s administration was an even greater crisis for Telangana. He warned Revanth Reddy against provoking public and employee resentment by threatening officials.
“Your incompetence is the reason for this power crisis. Blaming officials and threatening them for your inefficiency could cost you your job, Revanth,” he warned.
