Telangana private degree, PG colleges announce protests over fee dues

Private degree and PG colleges in Telangana have announced a series of protests from September 5 over pending fee reimbursement dues. The programme includes black-badge protests, a bandh, human chains, a statewide blockade and indefinite relay hunger strikes.

Hyderabad: With the Telangana Congress government continuing to delay fee reimbursement dues, private degree and PG colleges have announced a series of protests, including an indefinite relay hunger strike, commencing September 5.

The Telangana Private Degree and PG College Managements Association (TPDMA) general body that met here decided to meet Assembly floor leaders of political parties, MLAs and MLCs before the session begins on September 7 and urge them to raise the fee dues issue in the Assembly.

The association has called for Teachers’ Day to be observed as a day of protest on September 5. It asked teachers and staff to wear black badges as part of the protest. Submission of representations on the fee dues at Prajavani is scheduled for September 7.

Further, a bandh will be observed on September 8, followed by students taking part in a human chain formation in towns as part of the protest on September 9.

The TPDMA decided to organise a statewide blockade if the government fails to respond positively to the issue. “After these programmes, indefinite relay hunger strikes will be organised at all district headquarters,” said B Surya Narayana Reddy, president, TPDMA.
