Telangana promotes 309 Associate Professors in teaching hospitals

The Telangana State government has promoted 309 Associate Professors from 33 specialty health departments to Professors, assigning them to newly established medical colleges and teaching hospitals across the state.

Hyderabad: The State government on Wednesday issued orders promoting 309 Associate Professors from 33 specialty health departments to Professors and posted them to newly established medical colleges and teaching hospitals in all the districts of Telangana.

The promotion of 309 Associate Professors to Professors comes weeks after promoting 44 Professors to the rank of Directors of Medical Education and posting them as Principals of new Medical Colleges and Superintendents of Teaching Hospitals.

Health Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha said on Wednesday that these postings will address the shortage of Professors in newly established hospitals and medical colleges. Very soon, the State government will also promote all the eligible Assistant Professors to Associate Professors across the State, he said.

The Medical and Health Services Recruitment Board (MHSRB), Telangana, has also recently issued a notification for the recruitment of 607 Assistant Professors and the process to receive applications is currently underway, the Minister said.

Furthermore, the Health Minister pointed out that the Finance department has already approved the filling of another 714 Assistant Professor posts. Recently, the National Medical Commission (NMC) announced that approvals for all government medical colleges in Telangana will continue without any seat cuts or penalties.
