When farmers from Chinnakodur approached him in this regard, Rao called the Agriculture Minister and asked him to continue the procurement. He said farmers from Chinnakodur had sold just 7,000 quintals of produce out of 18,000 quintals they got this year.
Since there was a lot of produce left, he demanded that the State government reopen the procurement centres until the last grain of produce was purchased. The procurement centres were closed down on March 21 after purchasing for 20 days.
Farmers across the district were also demanding the government to reopen the procurement centres.
