Karimnagar: District election authorities have seized Rs 1.45 crore in connection with Huzurabad Assembly by-poll. The amount was seized for transporting money without valid documents by people.
District Collector RV Karnan, in a statement here on Wednesday, informed that in the wake of Huzurabad by-election, check posts were set up in different places besides forming static surveillance and flying squad teams to check illegal transportation of money, liquor and other material to distribute among voters.
Besides Rs 1,45,20,727 cash, 30 grams gold (worth Rs 1.5 lakh), 14 kgs silver (worth Rs 9.1 lakh), 867 litres liquor (worth Rs 5.11 lakh), 66 sarees and 50 shirts worth of Rs 2.21 lakh and 3.51 kgs of ganja worth Rs 19,750 were seized so far.
