Hyderabad: With cases of Omicron Covid variant being reported from various countries, the police across the city are also pitching in to create awareness on use of face mask and preventive measures. The health authorities had sought help of the police to enforce the Rs 1,000 challan rule for violators.

The Rachakonda police again revived its awareness programmes across the Commissionerate and also taking up special drives to enforce the face mask rule.

“Every day the awareness programmes and enforcement work is being done by the field officers in Rachakonda. We appeal to the public to follow the Covid protocols and ensure safety of one and all,” Rachakonda Polcie Commissioner, Mahesh Muralidhar Bhagwat told Telangana Today.

In Hyderabad, the higher-ups have instructed the field officers to visit the colonies, public places to create more awareness and take up enforcement of the face mask rule.

All the patrol cars and blue colts’ personnel were asked to visit colonies, roadside eateries where there is public gathering and create awareness. Similarly, wherever necessary the police are also booking cases.

City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar said the police will be engaged in creating awareness in the city. “Initially, we are creating awareness and gradually start enforcement duly following the guidelines of the State and Union government,” he said.

The Commissioner said all the Station House Officers were asked to strictly ensure the Covid protocol is followed and all personnel use face mask and hand sanitizers.

The Cyberabad police also stepped up its awareness drive across the Commissionerate in last few days. The police were taking up various initiatives to bring awareness about the importance of face mask rule.
