Telangana: Rs 2 lakh aid to families of scribes who succumbed to covid
Following the requests made by Telangana Union of Working Journalists and other unions, the State Government has taken this decision.

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has approved financial assistance of Rs. 2 lakh to the families of journalists, who succumbed to Corona recently. Further, assistance is also being extended to 200 journalists, who have tested positive for Corona virus recently.
Following the requests made by Telangana Union of Working Journalists and other unions, the State Government has taken this decision.
During the second wave of the Corona pandemic, in the last 10 days, 15 journalists have succumbed to the virus. Considering the situation, Telangana State Media Academy has taken the decision to extend the financial assistance.
To avail the Rs. 2 lakh financial assistance for journalists, who succumbed to Corona virus recently, applications have to be submitted before May 10.
Along with the application, the family members will have to produce a corona death certificate from local District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO), accredititation card, Corona positive report and approval from local District Public Relations Officer (DPRO).
Further, an appeal is being made to the State Government to recognize journalists as frontline warriors and set up exclusive Corona testing and vaccination centres, besides exclusive treatment in hospitals. This apart, immediate financial assistance is also being extended to 200 journalists, who have tested positive for Corona, said Academy Chairman A. Narayana in a statement issued here on Monday.
Applications for Rs.2 lakh financial assistance should be submitted to Secretary, Telangana State Media Academy, D.no 10-2-1, second floor, Samachar Bhavan, AC Gaurds, Masab Tank, TS Film Development Corporation.
