Hyderabad: Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao said this financial year the State Government would be extending Rs.3,060 crore loans to Self Help Groups (SHGs) under Streenidhi.
Of these, Rs.2,340 crore would be extended to SHGs in rural areas and the rest would be offered to those operating in urban areas, he said.

At a programme here on Monday, the Minister offered over 600 computers, printers and other equipment to different mandal, town samaikyas and neighbourhood centres across the State. They were arranged under Streenidhi with a cost of over Rs.4.31 crore.
Addressing on the occasion, the Minister said this financial year Streenidhi has decided to extend loans facilitating purchase of one lakh milch animals.
To facilitate dairy development in about 3,000 villages, coordinated efforts were underway involving Vijaya Dairy, Karimnagar Dairy, Mulkanuru Mahila Sahakara Dairy and Narmul Dairy, he said.
Prior to formation of Telangana, about Rs.742 crore loans were extended to SHGs under Streenidhi. During the last seven years, a whopping Rs.11, 683 crore loans were offered to SHGs in the State and Rs.220.40 crore profits were generated by Streenidhi Credit Cooperative Federation, he informed.
“The government has set up Streenidhi with a sole intention to extend loans immediately for all kinds of projects and purposes,” said Dayakar Rao. Over 5.50 lakh SHGs with nearly 56 lakh women members and 22,300 Grama Samaikyas, 619 mandal and town Samaikyas were operating under the aegis of Streenidhi.
Under Suraksha Bima scheme, insurance coverage of Rs.one lakh to SHGs members, besides offering scholarships to the SHG women children to pursue intermediate education, he informed.
