Hyderabad: In what is being seen as controversial remarks, TPCC president A Revanth Reddy said on Monday that if the Congress comes to power in the State, the benefits of all the government schemes would be restricted to Congress workers only. “I promise you that Indiramma houses, pensions, jobs and other benefits will be given only to persons who take Congress party membership,” Revanth Reddy said, addressing party workers at the digital membership drive programme here.

“Leaders who fail to enroll at least 100 members at booth level will be sacked from their positions and leaders who strive hard for the party’s cause will be given promotions,” he said.

“So far, over 34 lakh party memberships have been registered. If we manage to register 80 lakh memberships, we will win 90 seats in the next elections,” said Revanth Reddy.

In another controversial comment smacking of regional chauvinism, the TPCC president said IAS officers from Bihar were being given key posts in Telangana. “Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, MAUD Principal Secretary Arvind Kumar, Panchayat Raj Secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania, Special Chief Secretary Rajat Kumar and IPS Anjani Kumar hail from Bihar and they have been given five to six departments each. The Bihari batch is ruling the State,” he said.

The programme was organized to felicitate leaders who had done a good job during the membership drive. People are vexed with the failures of the government and Congress will come to power in the next 12 months, the TPCC president said.
