Hyderabad: Telangana on Wednesday could well have endured its worst day of this summer as mercury levels surged past 46 degrees Celsius in some places, according to data from Telangana Development Planning Society (TSDPS) and independent weather trackers.
The worst affected were the northern and eastern districts and this data indicated that Dilawarpur in Nirmal district registered 46.5 degree Celsius followed by Dharmasagar (Hanamkonda), Choppadandi (Karimnagar), and Odela (Peddapalli) recording 46.4 degrees Celsius.
Independent weather observers, including Hyderabad Rains and Telangana Weatherman, indicated a heatwave over central and peninsular India pushing local temperatures up.
Local weather enthusiasts pointed out that while data from India Meteorological Data (IMD) can sometimes vary slightly due to different station equipment, reality is that the northern and eastern districts in Telangana bore maximum brunt of the heatwave.
The IMD, Hyderabad indicated heatwave conditions with northern and eastern districts likely to witness above 44 degrees Celsius temperatures and the other districts recording between 41 and 44 degree Celsius.
