Telangana seeks Upper Krishna water to save standing crops

Uttam Kumar Reddy said Telangana had taken up the matter with Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar in view of the difficult water situation in the Krishna basin and the urgent requirement of farmers dependent on the Jurala system.

“We have explained the situation and requested them to release some water. They have said they will examine the availability and get back to us,” Uttam Kumar Reddy said. In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Minister said the government was making every possible effort to protect standing crops while ensuring adequate reserves for drinking-water requirements during the months ahead, he stressed.
