Hyderabad: The meeting of senior Congress leaders from the State unit at former Minister Marri Shashidhar Reddy’s residence here on Monday triggered speculations. This meeting apart, Bhongir MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi.
Senior leaders including former Ministers Ponnala Laxmaiah, J Geetha Reddy, D Sridhar Babu, Sangareddy MLA T Jagga Reddy and others assembled at Shashidhar Reddy’s residence for the meeting, which lasted a couple of hours.
Party sources said the meeting discussed several issues, especially state of affairs. The meeting gains significance since some senior leaders had expressed discontent over the State party leadership’s style of functioning and lack of coordination in conducting party programmes.
Sangareddy MLA T Jagga Reddy had even announced his decision to quit the party, citing humiliation by leaders within the party. Of late, some senior leaders were unhappy with the unilateral decisions being taken by the state party leadership.
Meanwhile, the Bhongir MP claimed that within 30 minutes of requesting the Prime Minister, he was given appointment. A review meeting was scheduled on Hyderabad-Vijayawada Highway expansion project in New Delhi on Tuesday. The works were expected to commence from next month but there were few issues in grounding them. The same was brought to the notice of the Prime Minister, he said in a statement.
Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said the Prime Minister also discussed issues pertaining to Telangana.
