Telangana: Senior police officer dies in elevator mishap

RAJANNA-SIRCILLA: Telangana Special Police 17th battalion in-charge commandant Gangaram (55) died after he accidentally fell into an elevator shaft in Sircilla town.
According to the police, Gangaram had visited his batch mate and Sircilla DSP Chandrashekhar Reddy on Monday night at the latter’s residence near the new bus stand.
While returning, he pressed the button of the elevator on the third floor to come down to the ground floor. However, the elevator door is said to have opened before the elevator reached the third floor. Without noticing this, he stepped into the elevator and fell into the shaft.
The DSP and other police personnel shifted the seriously injured Gangaram to the Sircilla Government Hospital, where he breathed his last while undergoing treatment.
