Telangana sets up legal cell for panchayat election cases

The Panchayat Raj and Rural Employment Department in Telangana has established a dedicated legal cell to handle court cases related to gram panchayat elections.Three Superintendents have been deployed to assist exclusively with election-related cases.

Hyderabad: In the wake of petitions being filed on reservations and other election related issues, the Panchayat Raj and Rural Employment department has set up a legal cell exclusively for court cases.

To ensure smooth conduct of the gram panchayat elections, the department has asked District Collectors and District Panchayat Officers to submit any issues to the Additional Advocate General or Government Pleader (non services) and the legal cell. Considering the timebound nature of elections, the Collectors have been asked to report issues within 24 hours.
