Mancherial: Seven students from Mahatma Jyothiba Phule Residential School-Chennur were booked for allegedly thrashing another student of the institution on Monday evening.
Police said that a case was registered against seven students studying Class X under Sections 324 (causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for assaulting a Grade 10 student from Naspur mandal. Investigations were taken up.
On Monday, the parents of the victim student confronted the principal of the school after the victim disclosed that the seven students jointly beat him severely, made him press their feet and pressurised him to give money when needed. He alleged that they recorded a video on their mobile phones and uploaded the clip on social media platforms when he denied their orders.
The victim also accused them of threatening to kill him if he exposed their act. He charged that the students were harassing him forcing him to fetch water.
Meanwhile, the principal of the school KV Prakash was suspended for showing negligence in discharging duties resulting in the incident. The students were also suspended from the school. An order to this effect was issued late on Monday night.
