Telangana Shivers: Coldest morning of the year, as temperatures plunge in severe coldwave

Telangana experienced its coldest morning of the year on Thursday, with several districts recording single-digit temperatures. Hyderabad Central University recorded 7.2°C, while Kumaram Bheem Asifabad was the coldest at 5.4°C. Cold wave conditions affected much of the state.

Hyderabad: Telangana experienced the coldest morning of the year on Thursday, with several parts of the state recording single-digit minimum temperatures.

Under the influence of cold wave conditions, mercury dropped to a chilling 7.2 degree Celsius in Hyderabad Central University (HCU), Serilingampally, 8.3 degree C at Rajendranagar and 8.9 at Moula Ali in the early hours of Thursday.


According to temperature data from TSDPS, the lowest temperature in the state was registered in Kumaram Bheem Asifabad at 5.4 degree C, closely followed by Rangareddy district at 5.5 degree C.

Some of the other districts that recorded temperatures close to the freezing point were Adilabad at 6.1 degree C, Siddipet at 6.4 degree C, Sangareddy at 6.5 degree C and Vikarabad at 6.7 degree C.

In Hyderabad and surrounding districts of Rangareddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri, the minimum temperatures hovered between 10 degree Celsius and 13 degree Celsius.

The areas that recorded minimum temperatures (followed by temperatures in degree Celsius) are: Gachibowli (10.6), Quthbullapur (10.7), West Marredpally (11), BHEL (11.2), LB Stadium (12), Nagole (12), Trimulgherry (12.6).
