Siddipet: Commissioner of Police SM Vijay Kumar on Wednesday said his top priority would be to make Siddipet a drug-free district and crack down on anti-social elements.
In his first media interaction after assuming charge as Commissioner of Police, Vijay Kumar expressed concern over the rising number of crimes against women in the district. He said the police would strengthen their outreach to women through Snehitha Support Centres at police stations and Bharosa Centres. He emphasised that maintaining law and order would remain Police Department’s foremost responsibility and warned of strict action against those organising gambling activities.
Speaking about preparations for the upcoming local body elections, Vijay Kumar said the police had identified critical and sensitive stations. He sought cooperation from political parties, youth and educated citizens to ensure free and fair elections. The Commissioner said five check-posts had already been established and 26 flying squads deployed across the district to maintain vigil.
