Telangana: SSC Public Exams 2026 stuck as government fails to release holiday calendar

Hyderabad: The delay in releasing of general and optional holidays by the State government for 2026 has put the SSC Public Examinations 2026 schedule in limbo.
The Education department has been unable to move forward with the announcement of the Class X examination schedule, as there is no clarity from the government on the closed holidays for the next year.
In fact, the department, a couple of weeks ago, proposed to hold exams either on March 16 or 18. However, a detailed timetable could not be finalised due to uncertainty over holidays for festivals – Ramzan and Sri Rama Navami.
Ramzan, which has a two-day closed holiday, may be celebrated around March 20. However, this uncertainty among officials as to when Sri Rama Navami is celebrated, either on March 26 or 27. While the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams announced that Rama Navami is on March 27 in Andhra Pradesh, there is no clarity on when it will be celebrated in Telangana.
Every year, the government issues the general and optional holidays list for the new year in the month of November. However, this time it is due for 2026.
“We are unable to finalise the schedule due to festivals’ holidays, as we are awaiting government order on general and optional holidays’ list. Still, there is time for announcement of the schedule, as last year it was announced on December 19. We will announce the schedule in a day or two,” said Education department sources.
So far, 5.40 lakh students, including regular and once failed candidates, registered for the SSC Public Examinations March 2026. The number of applications could further shoot up as the last date to apply to the school headmaster or principal concerned with a late fee of Rs 200 is December 11. Applications will also be accepted with a late fee of Rs 500 between December 15 and 29.
The examination fee for all subjects is Rs 125 and Rs 110 for up to three subjects. In addition to the regular examination fee, vocational candidates have to pay Rs 60.
