Siddipet: Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge on Friday said Telangana State was created with the efforts of AICC president Sonia Gandhi. The veteran Congress leader said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was enjoying the fruits after reneging on his promise to merge Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) with Congress.
Addressing the Dalit Girijana Dandora in Gajwel on Friday, he said Dalits and tribals were not getting due opportunities in the State. Promising to give opportunities proportionate to the population of SCs and STs in Telangana, Kharge said the Congress will ensure more opportunities to the backward classes.
Pradesh Congress Committee president A Reventh Reddy demanded that the State government issue job notifications since Telangana was formed following the sacrifices of hundreds of youth. He also demanded that the government increase treatment charges under Arogyasri to Rs 5 lakh. The party’s State affairs in-charge Manickam Tagore, CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, senior leaders J Geetha Reddy, V Hanumantha Rao and several senior leaders were present.
