Adilabad: Jadi Ashish, a MBBS student of Adilabad who was stuck in Ukraine, safely returned to India, ending his parents’ anxiety. He was felicitated by residents of Inkarguda village in Indervelli mandal on Saturday evening.

“I along with Indian students of Uzhhorod national university of Ukraine started the journey on February 28. We were picked up by the Indian embassy in Hungary on March 1 and reached Delhi on March 3. We faced tough conditions during the return. We did not know what was going on in the country and were depressed by uncertainty,” Ashish told ‘Telangana Today.’

The son of a small-time cloth trader, Ashish said that the university administration evicted him on time and helped him in reaching the western borders of Ukraine and stepping in the neighboring country Hungary. He expressed gratitude to the Indian embassy in Ukraine and Telangana government for extending all support in returning to home.

Not only parents Rajeshwar and Lalitha, but residents of the village were relieved to receive Ashish. “It feels good to be home and meet my parents,” he stated. Rajeshwar said that they were thrilled to see their son. They added that they spent sleepless nights imagining the conditions in Ukraine and were doubtful about his son’s arrival.

In the meantime, Forest minister Allola Indrakaran Reddy felicitated Sai Krishna, another medicine student who was stranded in Ukraine and landed in Nirmal on Sunday. Sai Krishna recalled that reaching the borders of the war-hit country was a nightmarish experience. He said that he was nervous all through the arduous journey.
