Hyderabad: Telangana State Women Safety Wing (WSW) has recognized students from 1,650 schools across the State as cyber cops.

At a ceremony organized at Mahboobia Girls High School here on Tuesday, two students from each school were presented with a special badge and introduced to the entire school as cyber ambassadors.

These students will create awareness on mobile security features, digital citizenship, preventive steps to be taken in case of financial frauds, crimes against women and children and many more concepts of cyber safety and security that they have learnt as part of the two training sessions in the 10-month long cyber congress initiative.

Addressing the students, WSW Additional Director-General of Police Swati Lakra said the WSW was working exclusively for the safety of women and children. She said all students should be aware of ongoing cybercrimes and learn how to prevent these issues. The students must also create awareness among other children and their respective communities on safety measures to be taken to prevent cybercrimes.

Speaking at the ceremony, WSW DIG B Sumathi Badugula said the cyber ambassadors would now be shouldering the local she teams officers in advocating the importance of cyber safety and creating awareness on effective solutions to prevent cybercrimes.

The cyber ambassadors including those in remotest part of Telangana are being trained and nurtured with the help of structured learning management system and active convergence of She Teams, nodal officers, NGO mentors, cyber experts and teachers at the district level.

These ambassadors will progress to be part of the girl safety clubs started by the WSW intend to establish in every educational institution of the State schools and colleges.
