Telangana students stranded in Ukraine, clueless on return to India

Hyderabad: Two students pursuing MBBS course were stranded in war-hit Ukraine. They were, however, learned to be safe as they were residing in western part of the country. Bhukya Akhil, the elder son of Mancherial town Inspector Narayan Naik and Mandanapu Spurthi, a daughter of coal miner from Madaram Township in Thandur mandal are currenty stuck in the foreign nation against which Russia launched a war a few days back. They are staying in touch with their parents over the phone.
Narayan Naik told pressmen that he received a video call from his son and told us that he was safe. “He is updating his status over the phone. He asked us not to worry about him. He enrolled to study medicine at a university located in the western parts of that country, two months back” he said.
In the meantime, Rama Rao, the father of Spurthi, stated that his daughter was safe and she was scheduled to return to India on February. He informed that she was staying in the country since five years and was scheduled to return to India on February 27. The parents of the students heaved a sigh of relief after learning condition of their children. They, however, requested the union government to take steps to bring the students to India.
A student belonging to Lambadihetti village in Chintalamanepalli mandal pursuing MBBS course was stuck in Ukraine. Sai Kiran, who was studying medicine II year in the foreign country, was stranded there. He was staying in the Ternopil town. He spoke to his parents and expressed concern over his safety. His parents pleaded to the Centre to repatriate his son.
Parents of students hailing from Nalgonda, who are struck in Ukraine, have been inquiring about the safety of their wards by talking to them through video calls. The parents were also expressing apprehension that they would lose contact with their children, if telephone network and power supply was disrupted in Ukraine due to attacks of Russian army.

A farmer Beeravelli Venkat Reddy of Nemmikal talked with his son Sampath Reddy, who is now stranded in Ukraine, through a video call and inquired his safety. Venkat Reddy said that his son said there was no war atmosphere in the city where his university is located. Hie is studying medicine in South Ukraine. Zaporizhzhia University is about 600 kilometers away from Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. Sampath Reddy told his father that Indian students of the university were in panic even though attacks of Russian army were continuing Eastern areas of Ukraine. Venkat Reddy fears that he would lose contact with his son, if telecommucations or electricity supply was disrupted in Zaporizhzhia due to war.
