Telangana targets 100 pc vaccination

Hyderabad: The State Health Department launched all-out efforts to achieve 100 per cent vaccination status for Telangana. The stress is to ensure all eligible persons in the State receive at least one dose of Covid vaccine, at the earliest.

In the last few review meetings, Chief Minister, K Chandrashekhar Rao directed the officials to achieve the milestone of 100 per cent vaccination status at the earliest.

As part of the efforts to step up and intensify the vaccination drive, the health wing will administer at least 3 lakh to 4 lakh Covid vaccines on a daily basis across Telangana. Already, a start has been made, as the department on Thursday for the first time administered 4 lakh vaccines in a day.

The Health Department has the capability to administer at least 10 lakh vaccines in a day and to strengthen the rollout of vaccines, the department had trained 10,000 vaccinators. Each trained healthcare worker can administer at least 100 individuals and together can achieve the target of 10 lakh individuals in a single day.

To achieve the target of 100 per cent vaccination by administering at least one single dose to the entire eligible population of 2.87 crore in Telangana, meticulous micro-planning has been taken up in rolling out the vaccines at sub-centre levels in rural areas and wards, colonies and slum settlements in urban local bodies.

Special camps will be the primary method to ensure vaccines are administered to a large population. However, before holding the camps, the health wing conducted door-to-door surveys and prepared a master list of unvaccinated persons.

ā€œA lot of micro-planning has been taken up to ensure further intensification of the vaccination drive. In the coming weeks, we are expecting to receive anywhere between 75 lakh and 80 lakh Covid vaccines, which will ensure there is no short supply,ā€ says Director of Public Health (DPH) Dr G Srinivasa Rao.

Habitation wise micro-plan has been prepared for all sub-centres in rural areas and colonies and slums in urban localities. Special stickers highlighting the vaccination status will be fixed on the doors during the survey. Special Covid vaccination camps will provide patients with emergency medical care in case of Adverse Events Following Immunisation (AEFI). At the end of the special vaccination camps, the habitations will be declared as 100 per cent vaccinated.
