Hyderabad: Candidates who appeared for the Telangana Teacher Eligibility Test (TG TET) – 2024 – II on Saturday were thrown into a state of anxiety as the examination was abruptly stopped due to a technical issue.

The test, which commenced at 2 pm, was halted around 3 pm due to server-down issue, leaving candidates in a state of confusion and uncertainty for several hours.

The issue was reported during the conduct of TG TET Paper-II in mathematics and science subjects at Vardhaman College of Engineering in Shamshabad. As per the sources, one of three servers in the centre developed a technical issue.

According to the candidates’ parents, the officials’ gave an assurance that the issue would be resolved within 10 minutes. However, the problem persisted until evening with several students who travelled from far-off places had to suffer from hunger and exhaustion due to the delay.

This issue resulted in heated arguments with the centre officials and some candidates staged a protest. Further, families had to go through harrowing experiences as their loved ones were unreachable. The examination was able to resume only at 6.30 pm, which was three and a half hours after it came to a halt.

“In the afternoon session at Vardhaman College of Engineering, the online test of 155 candidates was halted in the middle due to technical reasons. Candidates were retained in the test centre. The test resumed after resolving the problem and completed successfully,” said EV Narasimha Reddy, TG TET Chairman and Director School Education department.

A total of 75.50 per cent of the 18,574 registered candidates in the morning session appeared. Similarly, 72.97 per cent of the 19,341 registered candidates in the afternoon session took the examination.
