Telangana: Teen drowns in Peddavagu irrigation project, body retrieved in Kagaznagar
An 18-year-old boy, Arbas, drowned while swimming in an irrigation project near Kagaznagar. After an overnight search involving expert divers, police recovered his body on Thursday. A case has been registered and an investigation is underway.
Kumram Bheem Asifabad: The body of an 18-year-old boy who drowned in an irrigation project built across Peddavagu was retrieved on Thursday.
Police said the deceased person, Arbas, went for a swim in the project situated on the outskirts of Jagannathpur village in Kagaznagar mandal on Wednesday.
Rebbena SI Venkata Krishna said Arbas works at a coconut shop in Kagaznagar. He, along with two friends, went for a swim in the afternoon. His friends alerted his parents, who in turn approached the police. On receiving information, police rushed to the spot and launched an operation to trace the body by pressing expert divers.
The police suspended the search operation since it got dark. They resumed the operation and found the body at a spot around 500 metres away. Based on a complaint, a case was registered. Investigations were taken up. The body was shifted to Asifabad government hospital for post-mortem.
