Telangana: Tension in Shadnagar after Shiva Lingam desecrated at temple
In the early hours of Friday, local residents discovered a damaged Shiva Lingam at a temple in Vivekananda Colony, Janampeta, Shadnagar, and promptly informed the police. A complaint was filed at the Shadnagar police station, after which police officials inspected the temple and collected evidence.

Hyderabad: Mild tension prevailed in Shadnagar area as unidentified persons allegedly desecrated a temple at Janampeta, Shadnagar, Rangareddy district on Friday. According to Shadnagar police, miscreants damaged the Shiva Lingam, which was installed in the temple.
In the early hours of Friday, the local residents found the damaged Shiva Lingam in the temple, located at Vivekananda Colony, Janampeta, Shadnagar, and immediately informed the police.
A complaint was filed in this regard in the Shadnagar police station. The police officials inspected the temple premises and collected samples.
On receiving information, members of religious groups including Bajrang Dal and BJP party workers reached the spot and staged a protest. They squatted at the desecrated spot and raised slogans condemning the attack on the temple. They demanded that the police must quickly identify and arrest the miscreants involved in the act at the earliest. They further demanded the state government ensure strict measures to stop frequent attacks Hindu temples.
The Shadnagar police managed to pacify the protestors and brought the situation under control. Additional police force was also deployed at the spot to handle any law and order situation.
Prior to this, on November 5, another incident of desecration of idols took place at a Hanuman temple in Shamshabad area. While the police took a suspect into custody, his identity was not revealed. The vandalization also led to a huge protest by several religious organisations including Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and the Bajrang Dal.
Another attack also took place at the Pochamma temple of Jokul village in Shamshabad on city outskirts. A group of miscreants allegedly entered the temple around midnight and damaged three idols of deities. Local residents had caught hold of one of them and thrashed him before he was handed over to the police for further action.
