Kumram Bheem Asifabad: Three persons were arrested for allegedly smuggling prohibited spurious cotton seed at Gudem village in Chintalamanepalli mandal on the borders of Telangana and Maharashtra on Wednesday night. The seed, weighing 21 quintals and worth Rs 42 lakh. was seized from the three.
Chintalamanepalli Sub-Inspector Sandeep said the accused were Sambashiva Rao from Guntur district in Andhra Pradesh, Langari Bhupati, a native of Thalayi village in Bejjur mandal and Parvatala Prashanth from Gudem.
The three were taken into custody when they were secretly shipping the bags containing the seed following a tip. They are being interrogated by the police. The seed were handed over to Agriculture department authorities. A case was booked against the three and investigations are on.
