Hyderabad: Charging the State government of failing to protecting mosques, shrines and Wakf properties, Tehreek Muslim Shabban (TMS) demanded the Congress government to fulfil its promises made to the minorities during elections.

TMS president Mushtaq Malik said the State government failed to protect the mosques, shrines and Wakf board properties and alleged appropriate action was not taken against persons responsible for it. “FIRs registered were very weak. No strong action was taken against them so far,” he alleged.

The minorities were targeted in Jainoor of KM Asifabad district but so far the government did not pay the affected people any compensation as assured by the party. “After the big riots, we believed the Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy will visit Jainoor and meet the riot victims. However, that did not happen,” Malik said.

Recalling the previous BRS rule in the State, Mushtaq Malik appreciated former Chief Minister, K Chandrashekhar Rao for ensuring there were no communal riots in the State.

“The BRS government crushed the communal instances toughly and prompt action was taken. In the Congress rule in last one year, there were 23 communal incidents and no concrete action was taken against the perpetrators. It is a matter of concern for minorities,” he said.

The TMS leader said the minorities supported the Congress party during the election but on coming to power, the party did not bring any special policy for minorities nor is releasing the budget although Rs.4, 000 crore was promised.

Pointing out that the State government has no Muslim as a Minister, Mushtaq Malik said the Chief Minister, A Revanth Reddy admitted that Congress party came to power with the support of Muslims but is not interested in giving a ministry to Muslims in the government.
