Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said the State government would deposit fee reimbursement money in students’ bank accounts in advance from the current academic year.

The government would deposit Rs.2,400 crore annually for fee reimbursement, with the amount eventually transferred to students’ bank accounts. The scheme would be implemented transparently, he said. An initial Rs.250 crore had already been deposited.

Revanth Reddy was speaking after unveiling the statues of Jyotirao Phule and Savitribai Phule here on Friday. The Chief Minister directed students to apply for courses online. He assured them that the fee reimbursement amount would be deposited in their bank accounts within a month. “Students do not have to worry and they do not have to approach anybody,” he said.

He also said college managements would not be given an opportunity to deny certificates to students by citing pending fee reimbursement dues.

The Chief Minister acknowledged that while education had reached the villages, there was a lack of quality. He made a similar observation about food, saying that while it was available, nutritious food was not always available. The State government was committed to providing quality education and nutritious food, he said.
