Hyderabad: In a major development, the State Cabinet decided to invite global tenders on a warfooting for procurement of Covid-19 vaccine.
The decision is learnt to have been taken following the delay in supply of vaccines by the Centre to the States. Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had already announced that the vaccine will be provided to all citizens of the State, free of cost.
The Cabinet also directed Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar to take measures and make available Remdesvir injections, oxygen supplies and other medicines required for Covid-19 treament in both public and private sectors.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao telephoned the manufacturers of Remdesvir injections and sought adequate supplies to the State.
During the meeting chaired by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, the Cabinet also decided to constitute district-wise committees headed by Ministers and comprising the district Collectors, district medical and health officers, district headquarters hospital superintendent and also drug inspectors to monitor the situation on a daily basis. The Chief Minister directed these committees to take necessary measures for prevention of spread of the virus as well as arrange for medicines and other supplies.
KTR on panel to monitor vaccine drive
A State-level Task Force headed by Industries Minister KT Rama Rao, has been constituted to arrange and supply vaccines on a daily basis. A decision to this effect was taken at the Cabinet meeting here on Wednesday.
The Task Force will comprise of Principal Secretary for Industries Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary for General Adminstration Vikas Raj, Panchayat Raj Secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania, CMO Secretary and Covid-19 special officer Rajashekhar Reddy.
