Sangareddy: Home Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali said that the State government will take up the recruitment of 20,000 Police personnel in various categories soon.

Speaking to reporters after the inauguration of the new building of Sangareddy town police station here on Saturday, the Home Minister said that they have recruited over 80,000 persons in various categories since the formation of Telangana in 2014. As the women’s protection was their priority, Mahmood Ali said that 33 per cent of total personnel inducted during the last seven years were women. He said that they have also created She Teams to extend the protection to the women.

Since the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was giving priority to the police department by allocating enough funds, Mahmood Ali said that they could buy new vehicles and rope in advanced technology which would eventually help the police to improve the policing. Stating that criminals were fearing to commit crime in the State because the police here can crack the cases within hours, he said that the police department has played a vital role in containing the spread of the Coronavirus. He hailed them for making lot of sacrifices during the past one year since the first lockdown imposed

Saying that the Telangana government is giving utmost priority to keep law and order intact, the Home Minister said that 70 per cent of CCTV Cameras installed in India were in Telangana. Mahmood Ali said that CC Cameras were making the job of Police easy in cracking the cases. Since they have created a reception system in Police stations by appointing a trained woman constable as receptionist at all the Police Stations across the State, he said that the common people were walking into the Police Station without any fear. The ultra modern town Police Station in Sangareddy town was built with an outlay of Rs one crore.

Legislative Council Protem Chairman V Bhupal Reddy, Police Housing Corporation Chairman Koleti Damodar, IG (West Zone) Stephen Ravindra, DIG Nizamabad Range Shivashankar Reddy, Superintendent of Police S Chandrashekar Reddy, Additional SP K Srujana, Additional Collector J Veera Reddy and others were present.
