Suryapet: Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy on Wednesday said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao ensured that Telangana State, which was achieved after prolonged agitation, occupies the top position in the country in development, welfare and agriculture.
Speaking after hoisting the national flag on the occasion of Telangana State Formation Day at the District Collectorate here, Jagadish Reddy said several welfare schemes taken by the Chief Minister had turned out to be role models for other States in the country. The State government, he said, had succeeded in providing irrigation facility to 1.4 crore acres of land and was also providing free electricity supply to 30 lakhs agricultural pump sets in the State.
Paddy production increased to one crore metric tons in Telangana after 2014 from 14 lakh metric tons in united Andhra Pradesh. Erstwhile Nalgonda district had topped the State in paddy production, he said, adding that the significant positive changes were parameters of the effective policies of the State government.
Stating that Rs 40,000 crores had been allocated for the welfare sector by the State government in its budget, he listed out the various welfare schemes taken up by the Chief Minister for the benefit of different sections of society. “Only Telangana government is supplying safe drinking water to every household in the State,” he added.
Earlier, Jagadish Reddy paid tributes to Telangana Martyrs at Telangana Martyrs pylon and garlanded the statue of Telangana Talli on MG Road in the town.
Rajya Sabha member Badugula Lingaiah Yadav, Zilla Parishad Chairman Gujja Deepika Yungender Rao, Thungathurthy MLA Gadadri Kishore Kumar were also present.
