Hyderabad: The ongoing heatwave crisis in Telangana surged to dangerous new heights on Friday when Khammam recorded season’s highest of 46.4 degrees Celsius while Rajendranagar in Hyderabad witnessed a high of 43.3 degrees Celsius, in the last 24-hours, between 8.30 am, Thursday and 8.30 am on Friday, according to IMD, Hyderabad weather data.
Data from IMD, Hyderabad indicated that the 43.3 degrees Celsius temperature at Rajendranagar was a 5.3 degrees Celsius departure from the seasonal normal.
Apart from Khammam, the districts of Nizamabad and Adilabad recorded a scorching 44.9 and 44.8 respectively, followed by Hanmakonda and Ramagundam, which recorded 44.5 and 44.3, offering no respite to the coal belt and central regions of Telangana.
The district of Bhadrachalam recorded 44.2 while Medak felt the brunt of the heatwave by recording 42.9. In Hyderabad, Begumpet recorded 43 while Hakimpet recorded 42.6 degrees Celsius.
