Telangana: Two teenagers drown in Ranganayaka Sagar in Siddipet

Siddipet: A trip to the Ranganayaka Sagar turned tragic for two families as two teenagers from the touring team drowned in the reservoir on Saturday.

According to Chinnakodur police, the families of Yakub Baba and Ajaz Ali, residents of Warangal town, were on their way to Hyderabad in an SUV.


However, they decided to spend some time at Ranganayaka Sagar taking a break from their journey. Miraj (13), daughter of Yakub and Arfaz (15), son of Ajaz, ventured deep into the water. Since they did not know how to swim, they started drowning.

Two other people from the touring team, who tried to rescue them, also started drowning. The locals managed to rescue two of them, but Miraj and Arfaz could not be saved.

After a few hours of effort, officials retrieved their. The police registered a case and shifted the bodies to the government hospital in Siddipet for postmortem. ACP Madhu, who visited the reservoir, suggested the visitors not venture into the reservoir.
