Nalgonda: The TRS on Monday won 11 of the 20 wards in Nakrekal Municipality in Nalgonda district that gives it a simple majority to capture the municipal chairperson’s post.
The counting of votes of Nakrekal municipal election was taken up in the government junior college here.
The All India Forward Bloc (AIFB) won from six wards, Congress two and independent one. The BJP failed to open its account in the municipal elections here. TRS dissidents contested from 16 wards under the banner of AIFB and won six wards.
Speaking to the media after the results were announced, Energy Minister G Jagdish Reddy said the people were electing TRS candidates in all elections since they had a strong desire to support the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao.
“The elected representatives of local bodies must always be available to the people and utilise the opportunity provided to them to work for development of their areas and solve issues faced by the people,” he said, and congratulated the newly elected TRS councilors.
