Kumram Bheem Asifabad: A man died by suicide as he was allegedly unable to bear the harassment of a Sub-Inspector at Gangapur village in Rebbena mandal on Thursday. The incident came to light on Friday.

Gundla Prakash (50) from Gangapur ended his life by consuming pesticide as he was upset over the harassment by the local SI Chandrashekhar and two others – Pandirla Madhunaiah and Madipelli Laxminarayana Goud – over a loan of Rs 1 lakh he had availed from one woman, Sony, in the village.

According to a suicide note, purportedly written by Prakash, that was recovered from his residence, he said the Sub-inspector harassed him by threatening to book a case under the SC/ST Atrocities Prevention Act against him. He accused Madhunaiah and Laxminarayana of forcing him to commit suicide.

He requested the Superintendent of Police DV Srinivas Rao to take action against the three. The Sub-Inspector has denied the allegations levelled against him by Prakash.
