Hyderabad: The Telangana All Universities Part-Time Teachers Association (T-AUPTA) urged the Congress government to convert part-time lecturers as assistant professors (contract).

Stating that both part-time lecturers and assistant professors (c) were selected through similar procedure via selection committee, the part-time lecturers said they were having full workload per week on par with assistant professors (c), yet paid lowest.

The association said that, the universities have been witnessing superannuation of the professors and workload of the retired professors were also being allotted to part-time lecturers which resulted in full workload. They also added that some part-time lecturers were working full workload since the beginning of their appointment.

All part-time lecturers in the universities have required qualification and good experience in teaching and research besides performing all duties on par with assistant professor(c), it said, adding “Kindly, convert the part-time lecturers as assistant professors (c).

This will bring justice to those who are serving the university with lowest salaries”.
