Hyderabad: Employees working at the Telangana State Urdu Academy’s Computer Centres and Libraries are facing hardship as the State government has failed to pay them salaries for the last nine months.

There are nearly 42 computer centres and 30 libraries in the State where around 150 contract employees work. The Telangana State Urdu Academy Computer Centres and Libraries Employees Welfare Association, Mahmood Ali Afsar, said that salaries were not paid for nine months, and contract staff were struggling to meet basic household needs due to the prolonged delay.

“The crisis had made it difficult to manage children’s education, rent, medical needs, and daily expenses,” said Mahmood Ali. The association urged the government to immediately clear pending salaries at the earliest and warned that if the issue is not addressed soon, employees will launch protests.
