Peddapalli: Residents of Ratnapur of Ramagiri mandal on Tuesday prevented government officials who visited the village for land acquisition for an industrial park.
The government had identified 203 acres including 150 acres of patta land and 53 acres of government land for the development of the Industrial Park in the village. As part of the land acquisition process, government officials along with police personnel visited the village on Tuesday. Refusing to give up their lands, local residents staged a protest and prevented the officials from proceeding with measures for acquisition.
The villagers said that though they had already informed their decision to IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu that they were not ready to part with their land, officials had visited the village twice this month. Stating that there was no question of giving up their land for the industrial park, they said they would continue the agitation till the government decided to shift the proposed park to another location.
