Telangana wakes up to biting cold, mercury drops to 7.1 degrees Celsius in Hyderabad

Intense cold wave conditions also prevailed across several districts in Telangana with temperatures in Adilabad, Nirmal, Vikarabad, Kumram Bheem Asifabad hovering between 6.3 degrees Celsius and 7 degrees Celsius

Hyderabad: Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana State are under the grip of intense cold wave with Bela in Adilabad recording the season’s lowest of 6.3 degree Celsius in the early hours of Monday. In Hyderabad, the minimum temperature recorded was 7.1 degrees Celsius at University of Hyderabad (UoH) campus, Serilingampally mandal, while at Moula Ali (Uppal mandal) the minimum temperature recorded was 7.2 degrees Celsius.

The entire Hyderabad and its neighbouring districts including, Sangareddy, Vikarabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri and Rangareddy districts are under the influence of an intense cold wave with temperatures at several core areas between Sunday midnight and early hours of Monday dropping well below the normal minimum temperatures.


At BHEL, the minimum temperature recorded in the early hours of Monday was 7.4 degrees Celsius, at Rajendranagar, the mercury fell to 8.2 degrees Celsius followed by Gachibowli where temperature fell to 9.3 degrees Celsius.  In Secunderabad, the temperature at West Marredpally in the early hours of Monday was close to 9.1 degrees Celsius while at Quthbullapur, the minimum temperature recorded was 9.9 degrees Celsius.

Intense cold wave conditions also prevailed across several districts in Telangana State with temperatures in Adilabad, Nirmal, Vikarabad, Kumram Bheem Asifabad hovering between 6.3 degrees Celsius and 7 degrees Celsius.

Cold wave also continued in the entire rural parts of the Telangana State with minimum temperatures falling considerably in Adilabad, Rangareddy, Nirmal Sangareddy, Medak, Siddipet Asifabad, Vikarabad and Kamareddy.
