Weaver couple Bairi Amar and Sravanthi from Siricilla
Rajanna-Sircilla: Unable to clear their debts, a weaver couple died, allegedly by suicide, in Sircilla on Saturday. Bairi Amar and his wife Sravanthi were found hanging in their residence in Venkampeta.
According to local residents, Amar used to run powerlooms besides engaging in small businesses. As there was no work for the last six months, he was forced to sell his powerlooms three months ago.
Borrowing some money, he started a bedsheet making unit. However, even that ran into losses and his debts mounted further.
A few weeks ago, Amar even tried to get help from the State government by holding a press conference and narrating a story. However, no help came by.
With pressure mounting on the couple to repay their loans, they were struggling to make ends meet, neighbours said.
On Saturday morning, they were found hanging in their residence. Amar and Sravanthi had two daughters and a son.
