Telangana wins overall championship at All India Prison Duty Meet
Telangana emerged overall champion at the 7th All India Prison Duty Meet in Hyderabad, winning 21 gold medals across Karate and Krav Maga, with strong performances from participants and support from Telangana Police leadership

Hyderabad: Telangana emerged as the overall champion in the 7th All India Prison Duty Meet held at the premises of RBVRR Telangana Police Academy, Hyderabad, winning 21 gold medals, of which 10 gold and two bronze came from Karate and Krav Maga events.
In Karate, participants excelled in Individual Kata, Team Kata, and Individual Kumite events. Gampala Ratnam, Dhanavath Mohan, Kashishwar Babu, Nethi Rajesh, Tarun Pottabathini, Mamidi Parasharan, J Shravanthi, Komalatha Dolu, and M Kalpana won several gold medals. Telangana also secured two bronze medals — one in Individual Kumite (Kurma Rao Menda) and another in the Team Kumite category.
In Krav Maga, Telangana won gold medals in both the individual and team events, showcasing their strength and determination.
Soumya Mishra, IPS, DGP of Prisons Telangana, congratulated the medallists and appreciated the GVR Karate Academy under the leadership of G S Gopal Reddy for their contribution.
The event was also attended by N Murali Babu, IG of Telangana Prisons; Srinivas, DIG of Hyderabad Range Prisons; A Sridhar, Superintendent of Khammam District Jail; and Srinu Naik, DSP.
