Telangana witnesses soaring temperatures as monsoon recedes

Hyderabad: With the rains taking a break after sustained pounding of the city, the mercury has been climbing up slowly yet steadily.
Despite the skies remaining cloudy most of the day, the weather has been sultry and discomfiting for the last two days. On Wednesday, the day temperatures rose sharply across the city and in most places, they were recorded between 33 degree Celsius and 34 degree Celsius.
The rise in day temperatures was sharper in some places in the city with Kapra logging in the city’s highest temperature for Wednesday at 35.2 degree Celsius followed by Chandanagar with 35 degree Celsius, according to the data collated by Telangana Development Planning Society.
Several other localities in the city such as Begumpet (34.5 degree Celsius), Secunderabad (34.2 degree Celsius) and Moosapet (34.1 degree Celsius) also had slightly increased day temperatures.
The night temperatures in the city mostly hovered between 23 degree Celsius and 24 degree Celsius for the last 24 hours with only Serilingampally recording a dip in mercury during the night to 19.7 degree Celsius.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department forecast for Telangana looks at rains returning to the State in a light to moderate manner during the next few days.
Yellow alert has been issued for Telangana on Septeber 21 and 22 with forecast of thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) being very likely at isolated places in Adilabad, KumuramBheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagital, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Mahabubabad, Siddipet, Sangareddy, Medak and Kamareddy districts.
For the city, the IMD-Hyderabad looks at the possibility of light rain or drizzle in parts of the city towards evening or night and the maximum and minimum temperatures likely to be around 32 degree Celsius and 23 degree Celsius respectively in the next 48 hours.
