Telangana witnesses steep 22 percent increase in crime rate in 2024

The cyber crime rate increased by around 43.33 per cent in the year in the State.

Hyderabad: Telangana witnessed a steep 22 percent increase in crime rate in 2024 and the police registered 169477 cases.

The cyber crime rate increased by around 43.33 per cent in the year in the State.


Telangana witnessed an increase in conventional crimes such as robbery, burglary, murders, rape, cheating among other offences.

Telangana DGP Dr Jitender said there is no major Maoist related activities in the State. In an incident two people were branded as police informers and killed. The police promptly responded and brought the situation under control.

The DGP said there was no major communal violence in the State except few skirmishes in Jainoor, Vikarabad and a couple of other places.

He said new recruitment were made in the police department and the new recruits trained in a professional manner in latest investigation techniques.
