Mancherial: Parents and the wife of a hotel owner in Hyderabad have alleged that the hotel owner died by suicide recently as he was unable to bear the harassment from the son of an assistant Sub-Inspector working with Srirampur police station.

Addressing a press conference in Mandamarri on Monday, Dasari Kusuma, the wife of Rajesh from Bhagathnagar in Mandamarri, alleged that her husband died by suicide by jumping into an irrigation tank on September 25 due to harassment of Bonthula Vinay, the son of ASI Sattaiah for delay in repayment of a loan of Rs.10 lakh availed from him to run the hotel at an exorbitant rate of interest.

“Rajesh ended his life as he could not handle the harassment of ASI’s son Vinay,” she alleged, adding that Rajesh had registered losses in his business.

She also alleged that Vinay forced Rajesh to register his 1.12 acres of land gifted by his in-laws, situated at Uppera village in Peddapalli district, on his name following delay in payment of monthly interest of the loan. Vinay did not pay the remaining Rs.30 lakh relating to the cost of the land.

“Since his father was an ASI, he created a situation where we could not report this to anyone,” she said, demanding the police to take action against those responsible for the death of her husband.

Rajesh had resorted to the drastic step by jumping in a tank in Kukatpally after recording a selfie video narrating his ordeal. Kukatpally police registered a case and took up investigation.
