Telangana: Woman among three held for rape of minor girl in Adilabad
The case was registered against Ingole Anil, Ingole Gangadhar and Duppatre Sushma from Ranadirnagar of the town under various sections of BNS and POCSO Act
Adilabad: Three persons including a woman were arrested on charges of raping a minor girl here on Saturday. The incident had triggered communal tensions in the town.
In a statement, in-charge SP Dr Janaki Sharmila said a case was registered against Ingole Anil, Ingole Gangadhar and Duppatre Sushma from Ranadirnagar of the town under various sections of BNS and POCSO Act. The accused were arrested and produced before court.
Sharmila urged the public to maintain restraint and not to trust rumors spread on social media platforms. She stated that stringent action would be taken against perpetrators. She warned that a close watch was kept on troublemakers. She added that the police mechanism responded swiftly and ensured the culprits were nabbed.
The SP further said that police picketing was set up in the town to prevent untoward incidents. She stated that gatherings and meetings were prohibited with the model code of conduct being in force. Action would be initiated against those who violate the norms as per the law.
On Friday night, tension prevailed when members of one community clashed with those of another when they learned that a youngster raped a minor girl near the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS)-in Adilabad. Policemen who were present pacified the clashing groups and prevented them from snowballing into a major communal conflict.
